Star is approaching a big step

Liverpool are closing in on signing an exciting teenage star after limiting his options.

Richard Hughes continues to make moves even with the transfer window closed. This time last year he made initial contact with Milos Kerkez’s representatives to gauge whether the Hungarian would be interested in a move to Anfield.

Months before making a move for Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz Hughes also spoke to their representatives and made contact.

At this point he’ll probably be making the same rounds. Who the players on his agenda are remains to be seen.

No doubt, like all the players mentioned above, he will want to keep things secret for as long as possible.

The Reds like to move stealthily and behind the shadows. That is why they have been able to operate so successfully over the years.

One area they haven’t quite managed to navigate yet is the South American market. Liverpool has had a strong scouting presence in the region for years.

The club’s scouts have been keeping an eye on players like Rodrygo from a very young age and even signed the Brazilian.

Other players Liverpool have kept on their radar include Julian Alvarez, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez. Some of these players were eventually signed.

But none of them directly from South America.

It is that trend that Liverpool are now actively trying to break and may be getting closer to their desired goal.

According to TBR, Football Liverpool are among a large number of clubs who are very seriously interested in the services of Ian Subiabre.

And the site claims the Liverpool target has made his decision. The report claims he has decided to sign for a Premier League club.

It doesn’t reveal who the club is, only that he has communicated his desire to move to England, which will certainly increase Liverpool’s chances of signing him.

The 18-year-old attacker has a very interesting profile. He can play across the front three and it is very exciting to watch the ball. Subiabre has quick feet and he can beat any opponent when he is in full flow.

Despite his young age, he already has 19 senior appearances for River Plate under his belt, which would make it a lot easier for him to get a work permit in Britain.

Clearly, Liverpool would be a huge step forward for the youngster (if he decides to join the Reds). However, he doesn’t have to come in and get started right away.

He would first be given the chance to acclimatize. Maybe even play a few U21 games before getting his first-team opportunities, where Slot could likely add another option to his attacking depth.
